Hurricane Beatriz Threatens Mexican Coast
The U.S. National Hurricane Center says Tropical Storm Beatriz has strengthened into a hurricane as it begins to hit the southwest coast of Mexico.
The storm is within 140 kilometers of the Mexican port city of Manzanillo with wind speeds of up to 120 kilometers per hour.
Beatriz is expected to threaten popular tourist destinations Tuesday with heavy rains, destructive waves, flash floods and mudslides.
Hurricane warnings are posted from Zihuatanejo north to Cabo Corrientes, with tropical storm warnings out for other parts of the Pacific coast
